OK guys I need some advice
I seem to have broken GPL. Either XP SP2 or the new ATI 4.7 drivers won't allow GPL to run anymore. Maybe with the knowledge here and at RSC (when the forums are fixed) I can get it running again. What is happening is I see the splash screen for a split second and then nothing, back to the desktop. Until I get this worked out, Blue Harvest is on hold.

oh oh... fraid I'm not up at all on ATI drivers. If everything was fine before installing the new drivers why not drop back to the previous drivers until you get your answer. Good old Nvidia and OGL have always worked fine for me ;), I'm sure I've seen couple of threads at RSC about the ATI drivers...the answer will be there somewhere. Hope it gets sorted soon, I'm really looking forward to another addition to the movie list
Could it be that you're running in OpenGL maybe? I had the same thing with my brother in law. What we did then was this: (btw this is for an nvidia card but I suspect this might work the same for ATI)
In the root of your GPL install (\Sierra\GPL?) there is something called xxxogl.dll (not sure what it's called exactly) but that is the OpenGL dll GPL uses for displaying.
That same dll is somewhere in your c:\windows\ folder also. Could be in system32 though, I'm at work so I can't check the exact details. Use find files to locate it.
That dll in the Win folder should be copied to the GPL folder and overwrite. Then it should run fine, if that is what's wrong and if you're running OpenGPL.
Good luck m8.
That file would be rastogl.dll
I'm not sure as I have that RASTOGL.DLL also and it seems to be from Sierra themselves. Next to that one I also have nvoglnt.dll in the main GPL dir so ATI might use their own version of a OpenGL dll too.
Thanks so much for the help guys but I got it figured out. Someone, who will remain nameless, in order to make his machine run as fast as possible turned off indexing on the drive that GPL is installed on. Turning it back on solved the problems.
Thanks again for the suggestions.

Had a similar problem after installing the 4.7 catalyst drivers. Everything looked fine til I jumped into the cockpit, then I could only see the upper left corner of the screen. Uninstalled the Catalyst drivers and installed the Omega drivers instead, worked perfectly. This is all on SP1, btw, dont know about SP2. Hope it helps.
